Mithun Dutta is working in Center for People & Environ (CPE) as GIS & Data Analyst from 2019. Currently, he is playing an important role as a Research Coordinator of Remote Sensing and Data Science Lab in CPE. Recently, he is developing a Sustainable Waste Management “NETWORK and TERIFF MODEL” for Faridpur Municipality that is funded by DAM (Dhaka Ahsania Mission) with the collaboration of CPE. In 2022, CPE has received “Booster Research Grant” award from the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation for detecting methane concentration over Bangladesh using remote sensing. He is working as a Co-Principal Investigator in this research project. In the meantime, he is involved with multiple national and international agency funded research projects in CPE. He has extensive experience in EOI & ToR preparation, technical & financial proposal development, research project management, programming (Python, R), GIS & Remote Sensing (Google Earth Engine, ArcGIS, SNAP), Machine Learning (Pandas, NumPy, matplotlib, keras, Tensorflow, Scikit-Learn), sampling design, develop survey questionnaire, survey design, survey supervision, statistical tools development (descriptive analysis, regression analysis, ANOVA, PCA, etc.), data gathering, processing, visualization and analysis techniques, GIS mapping and remote sensing analysis. His research interest in Water Resources, Climate Change, Hydrology, Machine Learning, GIS & Remote Sensing.
He pursued his Master of Science Degree in Water Resources Development in Institute of Water and Flood Management, BUET as well as accomplishing a thesis in the partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree titled “Prediction of Suspended Sediment Concentration in the Padma River Using Artificial Intelligence Approach”. He wants to build a model from the research namely “Artificial Intelligence for the Sustainable River Ecosystem Management”. He pursued his Bachelor of Science degree in “Disaster Management” from Patuakhali Science and Technology University. He has some national and international publication on Integrated Water Resources Management, River Morphology, Extreme Weather Prediction, Climate Smart Agriculture etc.
