Climate Change Impact & Livelihoods Assessment in Kishoreganj, Bangladesh

Kishoreganj District is a vulnerable area with respect to climate change. This district n is also a very much endangered area with diversified problems like reducing crops and livelihood activities, shortage of food, economic damage due to floods, erosion, excess rain and loss of land. Due to the climate change on livelihood, fisheries resources, crop production and fish habitat may directly be affected in Kishoreganj. Climate change affects agriculture and fisheries sector in Kishoreganj via, seasonal and flash floods, changes in temperature and circulation patterns, irregular rainfall, the frequency and severity of extreme events. Extreme event is a threat to the district with its high concentration of population and economic activity. The visible impacts of climate change in Kishoreganj district include rising temperature, storm surge damage, loss of wetlands, livelihood pattern change, crop pattern change, loss of agriculture productivity, loss of biodiversity, damage boats, nets as well as education, health, housing, and other community infrastructure.
